English languages challenges

Hello everyone, this time I will talk about my english experience at university.

So far, I have done 3 courses of english (english 2, english 3 and english 4 currently), and I hope it is the last english course I do in the university, since I hope to pass this english course (english 4). The truth is that I really like the english language, and I hope to be able to communicate in a correct way in english one day. My english experience at the university helped me to realize that I was failure in the language (practically in all jaja)

I think that I need to improve my skills in listening and speaking, for this reason, the next year, in fact, since December of this year I will start to attend to an english course. I will go 4 hours a week, in this course I will practice the 4 english skills during a year, and later I hope to take an english course abroad (in the future).

Well, about my writing skills I think they improved a little during the development of this course, however, I think they could better in the future.

About the use of blogs, I think that is a good way to learn to write in english, maybe could be complemented with other activities related with the writing skills. Personally my english basis, it is not good and for this reason, I think that is difficult for me write and speak english.

On the other hand, outside the english classes, I never use the english language, the reason, because my family and friends don't use the english language, but I have an aunt that lives in Australia, sometimes she call me and she forces me to speak in english jaja

Well, this was my last blog! bye!

Changes to my study programme

Hello to all, in this post I will talk about the curriculum of my career and changes that I would make.
first of all, the curriculum of my career (chemistry and pharmacy) is new, a year ago it was modified, together with my classmates we are the first generation to study courses of this new curriculum and we are a kind of "laboratory rats".

I am currently in the second year (fourth semester) of the career of chemistry and pharmacy, of the courses that I have studied so far, I believe that although many will not be useful for me in a future work, they are necessary to have a base for some courses that come later.

One of the courses that I have not liked so far, since, in my opinion, it was really unnecessary, it is: "research for pharmaceutical sciences".

On the other hand, one of the changes that I liked the most when I compared both curriculums (old curriculum and new curriculum of chemistry and pharmacy) was that in the tenth semester a course in pharmaceutical biotechnology was added.

In general, I think that this curriculum is quite good, it has courses that I think are very important and relevant to the advances that have been made in the area of medical sciences.

I think one of the points that would change in this curriculum would be the great academic load that exists in each semester, personally, I don't have much free time.

Well, now I will resume my studies because during the next 2 weeks I have 4 tests, many controls, and a lot of homework to do. bye!

Summer holidays

Well, I think that it's time to fantasize! jaja at this time I will talk about my possible next holidays.

Island of San Andres, Colombia.

Ok, like every year I will try to convince my parents to travel to Brazil, Colombia or some tropical country with paradisiacal beaches (I love the beach, the sun and the sand jaja), and like every year, they will definitely say "no" jaja and I will start to convince my friends to travel to some of these countries and they will also say "no".

Brisbane, Australia.
Another dream that I would like to come true this holiday is travel to Australia, probably that's not going to happen either but I would like to visit my aunt Monica in her home, she lives in Canberra. In Australia, I would like to go to Melbourne, Brisbane and go to other cities. Touring all of Australia would be perfect, but as I said before it will not happen, at least this holidays.

In spite of everything, traveling to the beach for a few days or a week would make me very happy. I would like to go with my friends to the beach this holidays, a few years ago we were planning a trip to the beach, but for different reasons, we have not managed to make the trip.

Marble Caverns, Chile.
Travel to the south of Chile is another option that I would like to make with my parents and sister, I would like to go to Torres del Paine or to the lagoon of San Rafael (since my father's dream is to go to that place), another place that I would like to visit in the south of Chile are the marble caverns.

Bye!

Pets

Hi everyone today I will talk about my pet.

The name of my pet is Canela Amapola Del Carmen Del Perpetuo Socorro Lobos Correa (yeah is a long name jaja) but everyone call her Cane or Canela, she is a beautiful dog and she have about 10 years old.

when I was a child Canela arrived to my home, my sister and I were 9 years old and
after a couple of years of insist to my mom, she decided to adopt a puppy. At first, Canela was called "rusia" since her hair is yellow, but my mom decided to call her Canela.

When Canela was a puppy she loved the water, when we were younger, my sister and I used to play with water and Canela used to run with us, she liked to "bite" the water and she enjoyed taking showers. Now Canela does not like water and every day is more difficult to bathe my dog.

What I like about Canela is that she is a loving dog, she stays with me while I study, Canela likes when we scratch her belly. Also, Canela it's a playful and naughty dog, whit my family always remember when Canela escaped of the house and ran to the street, with my sister and father running behind her until we reach her.

My life without Canela would probably been bored, it's a nice dog and she rejoice my days, I love Canela, she is my first and only pet and I enjoy watching her while she sleeps, or when she takes sun or when she runs like a crazy dog jaja definitely Canela changed my life.

Good bye!

Postgraduate studies

Hello everyone, today I will tell you about some courses that I would like to do after completing my undergraduate studies.

Mainly, I would like to do two courses after finishing my studies, one of them is a postgraduate course, I still do not know which course to take yet, I have not informed myself about any of them, probably at this moment I would say that I would like to take a course in pharmacology or something like that. Maybe it's weird, but I like the idea of continuing my studies after finishing my career. If it's possible I would like to do this course abroad, but as I mentioned, I don't have a lot of information about them, therefore, I do not know which university abroad is good in the area, if it's not possible I think I would continue in the university of Chile. One of the reasons I would do this course is to specialize in the area, and I guess I will like it a lot and it would be really interesting for me.

On the other hand, I want to take a course that is in some way related to the postgraduate course, I would like to take an English course abroad, in England or Australia. A while ago I was researching about this type of courses, I was very interested and I think it is a good way to improve my English. The main reason for this course is that I think English is very necessary today, besides that I really like and I really want to learn this language.

Bye, thanks for reading my post! :)

My future job

Hello everyone, this time I will tell you where I would like to work, my "ideal job", although in reality I would prefer not to work jaja.

First of all, I still don't know in what area of my career (chemistry and pharmacy) I would like to work, however, I am very interested in the area of research, clinical area and industry area. For now I will not decide since I still have a few years to make that decision, and for now I'm focused on finishing my career.

My "ideal job" would be in a large space, which has a rest area and has space outdoors to go for a break, which also allows me to travel a lot and get a good salary, I know it is too much to ask, however, dreaming is free jaja, in fact in any place of work I would like to be calm, also I would like to work in different areas. I chose this career because I think it's an indirect way of helping people and that's what I want to do.

Fortunately I have a cousin that is pharmaceutical chemist and currently works in the Public Health Institute (ISP), an uncle who is a medical visitor and works in Chile Lab and an acquaintance who is also a pharmaceutical chemist works in the Popular Pharmacy of Recoleta, therefore during these years I will be studying I'll try to know more about these three areas, perhaps and if it is possible to practice in these places of work or simply visit them and learn about the work of a pharmaceutical chemist in these areas.

Favourite book or movie

Hello everyone I will talk about my favorite movie.

I have always liked to watch movies, I used to go to movies a lot, but now just a few weekends I watch movies.

A few days ago I saw a movie that I liked a lot, I do not think it's my favorite movie, but I really liked it, it's called what happened to Monday?, the director of this film is Tommy Wirkola and the protagonist is Noomi Rapace, who plays seven twin sisters called Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they live under a government where it is not allowed to have more than one child per family to reduce global overpopulation. In order to have a "normal" life every day of the week, one of them goes out to the streets of the city, but one monday, Monday does not return home, thereafter her sisters begin to investigate and fight to find out what happened to her on Monday.

I think I liked this movie because it presents several action scenes that mix with the intrigue of the sisters who desperately seek to Monday. Also is a movie that makes you nervous and leaves you thinking, maybe it is something predictable but it is a good movie that would recommend.

Good bye, thanks for read my post!

The best holidays/concert ever

Hi everyone, I'll talk about my best vacations.

My father always told me that we could go on vacation to the south of Chile, but I never liked the idea of going south, thinking about a cold climate disgusted me. In January 2015, together with my class and Friends we did our study trip, we went to Puerto Varas, stayed here for a week, toured the region, went to the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, the landscapes of these places were incredible, the lake of all the saints, green lagoon and other trails were very beautiful.

One day we went to chiloe, I remember this day I got up very early, I was very sleepy but at 7:00 in the morning I was on the bus on the way to Chiloe.

On our way back to Santiago we went to a hot spring, and we toured Villarrica and Pucón.

In a few years I would like to travel to Torres del Paine and in this way to know more amazing landscapes of the South of Chile.

My blogging experience

Hi everyone! today I will talk about my experience in english 3.

About my experience in this course, I must say it was quite funny despite the time that was held on Thursday (17:40 to 19:20). The realization of the blog class to class many times was fun. Many things we talked about seemed fun, like the post of "music in your life" and "my book and favorite movie", in this last post I had a lot of fun remembering when I used to watch this movie with my family.

About my writing skills, I think they improved a little during the development of this course, however I think they could have improved more if I knew about grammar, since I completely forgot about it and I have not seen grammar for about 3 years.

In the future I would like to include grammar classes parallel to the realization of the blog, more listening and applications of these, for example some blog could have relation with a listening.

I would have liked to write about the country that I would like to travel, my favorite food and my pet.

This is my last post, I hope you have enjoyed this and the previous, goodbye! thanks for reading my post!

From the invisible to the visible world and back...

Hi everyone today I will tell you about a nano-drug called abraxane, which was approved in 2005 by the FDA.

The active ingredient of this drug are nanoparticles of albumin-bound paclitaxel of 130 nm in size, corresponding to an intravenous drug used in therapy of the following cancer:

-Advanced breast cancer in people who have already received other cancer drugs.
-Lung cancer.
-Advanced pancreatic cancer.

A natural source of Paclitaxel was discovered in Taxus bacatta, also called Himalaya yew. Yews are shrubs or trees up to 15 meters, depending on the weather and soil conditions.

The mechanism of action of Paclitaxel involves the cellular microtubules. Cellular microtubules are essential in the formation of the mitotic spindle, as well as for the maintenance of cellular scaffolds that the maintenance of the cell's shape and the transport of organelles therein.

Paclitaxel promotes the assembly of microtubules, and inhibits their decoupling. It can be said that they "freeze" the cellular structure.

These drugs facilitate the polymerization of tubulin, a protein subunit of the microtubules, stimulating the formation of a stable but nonfunctional mitotic spindle. Paclitaxel "freezes" the cells in the G2 and M phases of the cell cycle, leading to inhibition of mitosis.

The most enjoyable subject

Hi everyone today I will talk about the most enjoyable subject for me.

The subject that I choose to talk in this oportunity is Laboratory of organic chemistry. One of the reasons I chose chemistry and pharmacy was for the laboratories subjects, I always had the idea to study a scientific career and carry out experiments and activities in the laboratory, however, I would prefer not to have any related subjects with laboratories haha I still like, but I did not expect them to be so stressful.

In this subject, the majority of classes I have to synthesize organic compounds trough different techniques, after synthesize this compounds I have to determinate it's degree of purity, measuring melting point or using other suitable techniques

The classes of the laboratory subject are totally practical, since in addition to this subject I have another call organic chemistry, which explains the theoretical basis of the activities performed in the laboratory.

In this subject we mainly performed reactions and synthesis of organic compounds, approximately 40 people attending the class and 4 teachers and 2 helpers help us constantly to realize our activities in the lab.

Goodbye thanks for read my post!

Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

Hello everyone! In this post I will talk about a scientific character.

I will talk to Galen.

Galen was born in Pergamum, in 129. Galen, from a very young age, became interested in a wide variety of subjects, agriculture, architecture, astronomy, astrology, philosophy, until the moment he concentrated on medicine.

Thus, at the age of twenty Galen became Therapeutes (disciple or partner) of the god Asclepius in the Asclepius of Pergamum for four years, where he would begin his medical studies.

Galen would complete his studies in Alexandria, Egypt, the ancient capital of the Ptolemy and main cultural center of the Mediterranean. Galen would learn here the importance of anatomical and physiological studies for medicine.

Some contributions of galen were:

-He showed blood flowing through the arteries, not air (as Erasistratus and Herophilus thought).
-He described various infectious diseases, such as the plague of the years 165-170 and its spread.
-He gave great importance to the methods of preservation and preparation of drugs, which is the current basis of galenic pharmacy.

I decided to talk about Galen since he was a doctor who made great contributions to the area of pharmacy.

My Favourite Book and Film

Hi everyone, this time I will talk about my favourite books and films.

I love to read, but I never read the compulsory school books, except The Hunger Games. I love the trilogy of The Hunger Games, especially the second book called Catching Fire, when I was about 12 years old, I knew that these books existed, they called my attention, and 2 years later I started to read them, when the language teacher asked to read them. The story centers on an 18-year-old girl, Katniss Everdeen, who volunteers to replace her sister in the hunger games, games that consisted of sending 24 young people to face death with each other.

I recommend this book because it shows a system established post-war that seeks to impose order, fear and respect for the government through the realization of these games each year.

About my favorite movie, it is really difficult to choose one among hundreds of movies that I have seen, but I remember that when I was a child I saw many times the small foot movie, a bugs life and Lilo & Stitch but I think my favorite movie is Lilo & Stitch.

Lilo & Stitch it's a very nice movie, It is about the history of an extraterrestrial (Stitch) that is adopted by Lilo a Hawaiian girl who lives next to her sister; Throughout the film Lilo tries to educate Stitch and to show him the meaning of a family and a home.

I really like this movie, it mixes humor with the importance of belonging to a family, I saw this movie for the first time when I was about 6 years old.

Goodbye, thanks for reading my post!

Music in my life

Hi everibody in this oportunity I will talk about the music in my life.

When I was in high school, I was in the music class for a year. I like music but I prefer to listen to it, because I realized that I was not good at playing instruments or singing jaja. In that year I learned to play the metallophone and to read guidelines. The next year I had the opportunity to take the art class, and I took it with a lot of fear since I'm a heavy drawing, however, I discovered that I had more talent than I thought jaja.

I don't know how to play any instrument except for the metallophone, but the keyboard and guitar draws my attention (I've never played any of them). I think in my family nobody plays any instrument at the moment (My sister has a guitar but she has never used it), my grandmother used to play the guitar but she does not play anymore, she lost her practice and she does not have a guitar anymore, but I have a friend who sings. I've never heard him, but another friend just told me that he sings very well.

I listen to many types of music, I usually like the songs, but I like electronic music a lot, every day I listen to this kind of music when I travel from my house to university, and from university to my house. I have attend some festivals and concerts of electronic music and it's indescribable the sensation that invades to my body when I am there... I hope to be able to attend many more.

Some dj that I like are: Martin Garrix, Alesso, Nicky Romero, David Guetta, The Chainsmokers and others.

When I was a kid reggaeton was in fashion, with my cousins and my sister we used to listen to Daddy Yankee, R.K.M. & Ken-Y and others, I currently don't listen to reggaeton except when I go to parties, it's impossible not to dance with reggaeton jaja.

Thanks for read my post!... Below you will find some music videos ;)

Shed a Light-Robin Schulz, David Guetta
Stay-Zedd, Alessia Cara
Closer-The Chainsmoker, Halsey

Your favourite piece of technology

Hi! today I will talk about my favorite piece of technology.

(My first cell phone)
When I started to think about this topic, many objects appeared in my mind like the cell phone, camera, video games, computer, TV, etc. but I think that my favorite piece of technology is the smartphone but on the other hand I also like to take pictures (I do not do it very often but I like it a lot)

I think I would choose my smartphone because it has many applications, in a single object you can do many things, from making calls to browsing; Take photos, find information, listen to music and many more! And the best thing is that you can take it anywhere.

I got my first cell phone when I was 10 years old, my parents gave it to me. It was not a smartphone, but it had many games that I could play with. It was fun.

About the camera, my parents gave me a semi-professional camera when I was 16, I liked taking photos at family reunions, birthdays, New Years, Christmas and other dates.

I think the photographs are a great memory, in them is expressed an occasion, when you see them you can remember everything that happened at that moment, from the characteristics of the place to feelings.

I believe that living without these objects could be difficult but not impossible.

Goodbye, until next week!

Why did you study your career?

Hi! this is my second post, in this oportunity I will tell you the story of how I decided to study chemistry and pharmacy and a little about my experience at university.

When I was a child I used to have the idea of been a bus driver or supermarket cashier.

During primary school I liked the maths and natural science subjects but never tought of study anything until I finished my primary education, at this time I "decided" study commercial engineering, the reason for this "decision" was beacause I liked the maths .

In high school my taste for science increased, especially for chemistry, during these four years I found many options to study, some of them were: chemistry, chemistry and pharmacy, biochemistry, engineering in biotechnology, pedagogy in chemistry, among others; and every time I attended a university fair added a new career to the list. In my last year as student I did not know what to study!. Another option was to listen to my parents and study medicine or laws, but never consider those careers.

I finally decided to study chemistry and pharmacy, the reasons were simple, I liked the chemistry and it was close to the health area, the career had high employability and a good salary.

When I was sending my application, my insecurity returned and I asked if I really wanted to study this career but I thought for a moment and sent my application.

Fortunately, until now I feel that I was not wrong in choosing the chemistry and pharmacy career, I am currently in second year, although it has cost me a little I feel that I like it. I have met incredible people with whom I share every day, we laugh, we study and we cry jaja. Up to now it has been a great challenge and a great experience.

If I think of the future, again, I do not know what to do! I would like to have a job in an area that I like (I still do not know what it is, but the clinical area and industry area draws my attention) and with a good salary.

Thanks for read my blog!
